OCEAN DROVER (2002/29812grt/13462dwt/IMO 9232852, ex-BECRUX) - the world's largest purpose-built livestock carrier, made an unpublicised call at Auckland today for bunkering. Arriving from Portland, South Australia and berthing before dawn, she spent just seven hours alongside before sailing for the ports of Timaru and Napier to load in total around 6000 cattle.
She did a similar voyage last year which saw her transport 8000 cattle to China as part of Fonterra's programme of supplying its dairy farms in that region.
The 180m, 9-deck vessel was commissioned in 2002 and can carry up to 75000 sheep oor 18000 cattle. She is owned and managed by Welltech Marine of Singapore. 12 July 2017. Photo by © 2017 SeapixOnline.com
