COSTA CONCORDIA (2006/114147grt/IMO 9320544) berthed in Valetta Harbour, Malta with the Maltese-flagged oil/chemical tanker SANTA TEREZA (ex-SARA TEREZA) laying alongside during bunkering operations. On Friday 13 January 2012 Costa Concordia, cruising the Mediterranean hit a reef near Isola del Giglio. As at 23 March 2012, thirty bodies had been recovered and two passengers were still missing.
Nearly 18 months later, soon after the beginning of the salvage operation, divers located the last two missing passengers' bodies after the hull was brought into an upright position.
