SeapixOnline- Superyachts - 1 of 1 SEAWOLF (ex-DOLCE FAR NIENTE, SEAWOLFE C, SEAWOLFE, MATSAS SALVOR, SMIT SALVOR, SMIT CLYDE) - arriving in Auckland, New Zealand. SEAWOLF began life in 1957 when she was launched at the J & K Smits shipyard in the Netherlands as SMIT CLYDE, an extremely powerful ocean-going salvage tug. That power would see her gain the admiration of the maritime world when in 1968 she simultaneously towed two US aircraft carriers from Boston to Japan and later endured two typhoons while towing a fully-laden oil tanker from the Persian Gulf, again to Japan. She underwent conversion to a luxury superyacht between 1998 and 2002 and refitted in 2009. Her exterior design is by DBR Huisman. At 58.8m (193') she caters for 12 guests and carries a crew of 15 at around 15 knots.
