ABIS ESBJERG (2015/5460grt/4200dwt/IMO 9671486) was an unexpected maiden caller to Auckland today.

Before the Dutch-flagged general cargo vessel arrived from Cristobal, Panama, it had been intended for her to discharge at the Motuihe Island anchorage and not enter the inner harbor.

Instead she arrived and transitted the Auckland Harbour Bridge before unloading explosives at the Kauri Point ammunition depot on the shores of the upper harbour.

Built by CIG Shipbuilding in Poland, she is owned and managed by Abis Shipping of Harlingen, The Netherlands.

Abis Esbjerg was alongside for just 24 hours before sailing for Port Alma in Queensland, Australia. 25 May 2016. Photo by © 2016
