SeapixOnlineDisplaying 1 of 1 HQS WELLINGTON (1934) - The former HMS WELLINGTON, built at Devonport, Plymouth, England. She served mainly in the Pacific in New Zealand and China prior to WWII. When war broke out she was armed with depth charges and three guns and was engaged mainly on convoy duties on the North Atlantic. She took part in the evacuation of Allied troops from Dunkirk. After the war she was converted and became HQS WELLINGTON serving from 1948 as the floating livery hall for the Honorable Company of Master Mariners and moored on the River Thames at Victoria Embankment in London. Ownership was transferred in 2005 to the Wellington Trust to ensure her preservation. She also caters for parties of up to 180 people in her role as an entertainment venue.
