Built in Scotland and launched in December 1973, she was commissioned in April 1975 and completed her active service in December 2000. Following her decommissioning, it had been intended to preserve her as a tourist attraction. She has been sitting on the mooring since her decommissioning, unable to get a berth due to endless "red-tape".
