SeapixOnlineDisplaying 1 of 1 HMNZS MOA (P3553) an inshore patrol craft, inbound to the Royal NZ Navy base, Auckland, NZ. She was decommissioned in January 2007 and was named FLIGHTLESS. On 20 June 2008, while moored at Waikawa Bay near Picton in NZ's Marlborough Sounds she was struck by a small fast moving aluminium fishing boat resulting in the deaths of two fishermen and injury of several more. Preliminary investigations suggested that sunstrike could have been the cause of the collision as the both the driver and others aboard at the time were vastly experienced in these waters and some had travelled that route hundreds of times.
