SeapixOnlineDisplaying 1 of 1 CAP SAN DIEGO (1962/9998grt, ex-SANGRIA, ex-CAP SAN DIEGO) - is today a museum ship at the port of Hamburg, Germany. She was the last built of six general cargo freighters for Hamburg Sud and were collectively known as the "White Swans of the South Atlantic". CAP SAN DIEGO sailed the German to S. America route until 1981 after which she traded under various flags until scheduled scrapping. She was saved after the Hanseatic city of Hamburg purchased the by then dilapidated ship. She was restored by volunteer enthusiasts including laid-off dock workers. Still kept to operational standards she regularly leaves port on day trips along the River Elbe to Cuxhaven.
