SeapixOnline- Historic/Older Vessels - 11 of 312 RAPAKI (1926/762grt) - a Scottish-built steam powered floating crane which gave 62 years service to the Lyttelton Harbour Board. Her crane was built by Sir William Arrol and Co, builder of Scotalnds' Forth Bridge. RAPAKI was retired in 1988 and was purchased by the New Zealand Maritime Museum in 1993. The navy tug Arataki towed her to Auckland where she is now on display at the citys' waterfront Voyager NZ Maritime Museum next to Princes Wharf. Keywords: Historic Shipping, Miscellaneous Vessels |
