SeapixOnlineDisplaying 2 of 22 MONA LISA (1966/28891grt/IMO 6512354, ex-THE SCHOLAR SHIP, OCEANIC II , MONA LISA, VICTORIA, SEA PRINCESS, KUNGSHOLM) passes Mt. Victoria as she enters Auckland Harbour, New Zealand, making her maiden call at the port in her current name. Her funnel emblazoned with a giant copy of Leonardo da Vinci's famous painting, she arrived from Papeete, Tahiti soon after dawn and sailed for Sydney, Australia the following morning.
The ship reverted to the name MONA LISA after The Scholar Ship organisation, under whose charter she visited Auckland on 7 Novemeber 2007, experienced funding difficulties earlier this year (08).
This vessel has also called at Auckland while sailing under every name she has carried during her long career. At the end of her career she served as a floating hotel in Oman under the name VERONICA.
