That so, it was somewhat of a surprise to see the world's largest car carrier, the three-month old Wallenius-Wilhelmsen newbuild ANIARA glide into Waitemata Harbour, Auckland at dawn today (13 November 08) for her maiden call following a Pacific crossing from Manzanillo, Mexico.
However, despite her 8000-car capacity ANIARA discharged a mere 350 new motor vehicles and 110 roro units (trucks/construction equipment/bailers/tractors/harvesters) and 45 breakbulk units.
ANIARA sailed for Brisbane, Australia later that evening.
