She is seen here at speed passing BONDI BELLE (1898) and KAREWA (1951) taking part int he 168th Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta tug race.
BONDI BELLE - built in 1898 at Whakapara, Northland, New Zealand. She was used as a log tug at Opua in the Bay of Islands around 1920. After the mill closed, she relocated to the Hokianga Harbour. After a later spell as a commercial fishing boat she is today only used as a pleasure boat based at Sandspit near Warkworth, north of Auckland.
KAREWA - Built in 1951 by Lidgards to tow barges on the Piako River (Thames). When finished there she went to Tauranga as a Towing /pilot launch for the Tauranga Harbour Board. She is powered by an old style 6 cylinder Fordson diesel (120 Hp). Taking part in the 168th Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta tug race, she won the trophy for the Best Presented Retired Vessel.
