SeapixOnline- Ferries - 1 of 1 WAVERLEY (1947/693/gt/IMO 5386954) - the world's last ocean-going paddle steamer. Built on the Clyde she replaced the original Waverley which was sunk during the evacuation of WWII allied troops at Dunkirk. Restored to her original 1940's appearance this steamer was originally intended only to operate as a ferry on the Scottish west coast but today offers sailings at many points around the British coastline. She is seen here at speed in The Solent near Southampton.
