Renamed CMA CGM NORMANDIE, MSC NAPOLI) inbound to Southampton, is passed by Red Funnels' Isle of Wight roro-ferry RED EAGLE (1996/3028grt/IMO 9117337). In horrendous storms on 18 January 2007, MSC NAPOLI was holed and abandoned in the English Channel while en-route to Portugal. She was eventually towed by Coastguard vessel ANGLIAN PRINCESS (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-14943554) to Lyme Bay off the UK's south coast where her cargo was offloaded. She was later cut up in-situ and removed from the World Heritage-rated coastline.
