USS SAMPSON (DDG102) an Arleigh-Burke class destroyer sails into Auckland, New Zealand leading the Canadian Halifax-class frigate HMCS VANCOUVER (FFH31) at right of picture and the Australian guided missile frigate HMAS DARWIN (FFG04). At the head of the convoy, out of shot was the Anzac-class frigate HMNZS TE KAHA (F77) and bringing up the rear was the Royal New Zealand Navy's tanker HMNZS ENDEAVOUR. All five ships had spent a week helping out with the post earthquake clean up in Kaikoura, the DARWIN, VANCOUVER and SAMPSON originally intending to participate in the RNZN's 75th Anniversary celebrations and fleet review. 22 November 2016.
