IRENE [OF BRIDGEWATER] (1907) a wooden-built ketch seen outbound on Southampton Water, England. She was gutted by fire in Marigot Bay, St. Maartens in the West Indies on 23 May 2003. She was subsequently rebuilt in the UK.
Berthed astern of her is SOREN LARSEN, a 125grt brigantine built in 1949 in Denmark. Although previously registered in Colchester, England, she is now re-registered in Samoa. In 2011 SOREN LARSEN moved base from Auckland, NZ, and as of that date is operated by Sydney Harbour Tall Ships, Australia. Carrying 650 sq. metres of sails she is widely known for her starring role in the hit BBC series The Onedin Line. 1996. Photo by SeapixOnline.com/Trevor Coppock
